Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I bring my dog?
Cuthbert lodge may be available for a clean, well-behaved dog, but only Guide Dogs are allowed in the main house. Owners are responsible for the control and cleanliness of their animals.
2. Do you cater for special diets?
We can cater for vegetarians (not Vegans) and some medical diets (e.g. gluten and/or dairy-free).
3. Can I pay by credit/debit card?
We regret that we do not have the facilities to process these cards.
4. I am travelling by train; which is the best route?
From the north, via Middlesbrough to Sleights on the Esk Valley line (3 trains a day). From the south and west, either alight at York and take the Coastliner bus 840 to Whitby (last through bus currently 15.20) from outside the station to Sleights bridge; or, get off at Scarborough and take the Whitby/Middlesbrough bus 93 / 93A from outside the station, alighting at Whitby bus station.
With prior notice it usually possible for guests to be met from any of the above destinations; taxis are readily available from Whitby bus station.
5. May I come to the Sisters' services?
Yes, guests are welcome at all times.
